Cholesterol & Glucose Screening

These tests are available for a nominal fee during our regular hours of operation.

Immigration Services

The Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS) has changed its regulation to include proof of adult and children' immunizations. The INS forms and immunization requirements can be processed by the Public Health Nurse during our normal office hours. For fees, appointment, or further information, please call: 313.943.2090.

Outreach Services

Dearborn provides assistance for those residents in need. Our Outreach Counselor' goal is to provide outreach, referral and counseling assistance to each and every community resident requiring services. Our counselor is available every Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 am for in-person consultation or you may call the office: 734.721.2007 non-emergency response within 24 hours or 313.813.2962 voice mail pager for quick response.

Influenza & Pneumonia Vaccinations

Annual flu shots are available from mid-October until the vaccine supply is depleted. Flu shots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call us at 313.943.2090 for detailed information.

Pneumonia vaccinations are offered throughout the year during our normal hours of operation. The shot can be given to anyone over 50 years of age. If under, please bring a prescription from your private physician. Please call the Health Department for more information.

Well-Baby Clinics

Physical examinations, nutrition, growth and development counseling and immunizations for well children, beginning at two months with follow-up visits through age five. Appointment required.

Home Visitations

Our public health nurse can assist in nutrition and diet, hypertension communicable disease and elderly assistance.

Dental Clinics

Basic services are available for income eligible residents four years of age and older who are not covered by a dental insurance plan. Appointment required.

Tuberculin Testing Clinics

Our department administers tuberculin (TB) skin tests using the Mantoux method, the most accurate method of TB testing available. This service is performed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays during our regular office hours.

The TB test needs to be checked by a member of our staff 48 to 72 hours after it is given. Therefore, no TB tests are administered on Thursdays as we are not open on weekends.

If the TB test is not read during the appropriate time frame, the test is not valid and must be repeated. Chest x-rays are available as a follow-up for a TB positive reactor or those who have a history of positive reaction to the tuberculin skin test by documentation or prescription.

Consultation & Immunization Services for Travelers

Travelers to foreign countries may be exposed to diseases that are not common in the United States. The goal of the Dearborn Health Department' Travel Clinic is to protect the health of our community' residents by preventing diseases that may be encountered during foreign travel and bringing disease back with them.

To determine health risks during travel, the Dearborn Health Department offers consultation and/or immunization with a registered nurse. Our travel program is computer generated with weekly updates from the CDC to ensure you receive the most recent and accurate information available. During your consultation our nurse will generate a printed report specifically tailored for your travel itinerary. If vaccinations are recommended, there will be a fee for each immunization.

Ideally, the travel consultation should be two to four weeks before your departure date because most vaccines need at least one week to take effect. Your report will specify health concerns for each destination, and the nurse will explain methods to prevent health problems you may encounter while traveling. We offer all vaccines necessary for foreign travel except malaria. That prescription is available from our doctor on the first Wednesday of each month or the nurse will give information on the medication (tablets) for your private physician.

Travel immunizations are given to anyone over the age of two years. Children under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with proof of guardianship.

Appointments are necessary. Please call us at 313.943.2090 for further information on the charge for your consultation and approximate fees for immunizations.
