Annual service offered until April 13
Dearborn residents with low to moderate incomes can receive free help from volunteers in preparing tax forms through April 13.
Special attention is given to those ages 60 and older. This service is offered by the City of Dearborn’s Senior Services Division with volunteers from AARP.
Assistance is available in completing the following 2016 tax forms: Michigan Home Heating Credit, Michigan Homestead Property Tax Credit, State Income Tax and Federal Income Tax.
Assistance will be provided at the Dearborn Senior Center (inside the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue, east entrance) from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, until April 13. The doors open at 7:30 a.m. Assistance is available to approximately 20 people each day on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please bring the following: a valid photo I.D., your 2015 tax returns, and 2016 records of all income (including Social Security, earned interest, dividends and pensions). Also bring records of health care costs, medical insurance premiums and tax payment receipts for city, school and county taxes. Also have Social Security documents for all dependents being claimed.
No complicated forms or rental properties will be accepted. Dearborn Senior Services is not responsible for tax preparations.
Photo ID is required for all tax preparation with no exceptions.
In the event of inclement weather and the closure of Dearborn Public Schools, the Senior Services office will be closed and no tax preparation will take place.
