Once again, the City of Dearborn Finance Department has earned the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
This is the 18th year in a row that the Finance Department has earned the certificate from the GFOA, which is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Receiving this award is a significant accomplishment for a government and its management.
A fair and objective panel of finance professionals deemed the City of Dearborn’s CAFR for the 2016 Fiscal Year to meet the high principals of the program, whose goal it is to ensure that users of financial statements have the information they need to assess their own financial health. The panel awards those that follow “the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.”
“The Finance Department team takes great pride in producing accurate and reliable financial reports, and is pleased to be recognized for their efforts and accomplishment,” said Jim O’Connor, Dearborn’s Finance Department director.
Dearborn has now garnered a total of 24 total awards for its precise financial reporting.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
