Some media coverage regarding the arrest of Samer el Debek, 37, by the FBI has not made clear enough that the Dearborn community was not in danger from his alleged activities, or that it appears that he relocated from New York to this region only for a short time.
“Clearly we now know that Samer el Debek posed no threat or danger to the Dearborn community,” said Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad on June 9.
“It is important to note that the Dearborn Police Department monitors intelligence information on an hourly and daily basis. We will continue to work closely with our federal, state, county and regional law enforcement partners to ensure that all measures are taken to proactively enhance Dearborn’s security.
“We will continue to secure America one block at a time,” said Haddad
