Healthy Dearborn event fun for all ages
Healthy Dearborn is sponsoring its second Homecoming Family Bike Ride on Aug. 5 at 10 a.m.
The approximately seven-mile ride will wend its way through Dearborn’s northwest neighborhoods and includes mid-point stop at Levagood Park for refreshments and biking information. This is a family-friendly, police-supported ride for cyclists of all ages.
Helmets are required, and children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The ride departs from the tennis courts on the south side of Ford Field Park, 500 Monroe St.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. for this free event. To save time that morning, waiver forms can be found at www.cityofdearborn.org/homecoming and printed and completed in advance.
New this year will be an additional event for more serious cyclists. Following the family ride, interested and able riders can join in a 20-mile, moderately-paced bike ride leaving from the park. Rest stops and SAG (support and gear) support will be available.
Healthy Dearborn is a collaboration between Beaumont, the City of Dearborn, Dearborn Public Schools and other stakeholders to build a “thriving, diverse community that fully embraces a unified culture of health.”
Dearborn Homecoming runs Aug. 4 to 6 at Ford Field Park. The annual festival includes carnival rides, food, musical performances, free family activities and on Saturday and Sunday night, fireworks. Admission to the festival is free.
