The primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 8, with voting polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Absentee ballots must be returned to the City Clerk's office, 16901 Michigan Ave. by 8 p.m. Aug. 8.

Races on the ballot include Mayor and City Clerk, which each have five people running for one seat, and City Council, with 16 people running for seven positions.

The primary election will narrow the field before the general election on Nov. 7.
