The Dearborn Historical Society invites children and their cuddly companions to the Teddy Bear Picnic on Saturday, July 29, from 10 a.m. to noon at the McFadden-Ross House, 915 Brady St.
Loved for more than 100 years, the teddy bear will be celebrated with activities including a teddy bear parade that children can enter with their bears. Kids will also have the chance to decorate wagons, bikes, strollers, buggies and floats. Awards will be presented.
Also featured will be a puppet show, games and crafts. A special competition takes place with prizes presented for most loved bear, smallest bear, largest bear and fuzziest bear. Bears can be entered in one or more categories at a cost of 50 cents for each division. Contestants must be 12 years old or younger.
Picnic participants can bring their own lunch or purchase hot dogs, chips and water. Free A&W root beer will be available, and a first aid station for small bear repairs will be on site.
