Popular 1940s big band musical coming to Dearborn
A truly unique concert experience is coming to Dearborn, bringing an
authentic flashback into the 1940s - a time when music moved the nation’s
spirit.
Now in its 15th tour year, the musical called In The Mood recreates
the classic sounds of the World War II era with sensational singers,
dancers and the big band sounds of the String of Pearls Orchestra.
The show is coming to the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center
at 8 p.m. on Saturday October 18. Tickets are on sale at The Center’s
box office, by calling 943-2354 or visiting www.dearbornfordcenter.com.
Ticket prices range from $24 to $35, and Visa, Master Card and American
Express are accepted.
Since 1994 performers from In the Mood have toured across the United
States and in Europe in this successful 1940s revue, complete with up-tempo
big band rhythms and intimate ballads. Two of the group’s most
notable performances include the Inaugural Ball for President Bill Clinton
as well as the United Service Organizations’ commemorative ceremony
honoring the 50th anniversary of World War II.
In fact, theater managers in Michigan and throughout the country have
nothing but positive comments to say about the show.
"The show sold out extremely quickly, and I could have easily sold
another show as well. The performance was phenomenal and you would not
believe how many people have requested that we bring you back. I can't
remember an evening in which the patrons left as happy as they did the
evening that you performed," according to William Wood, director
of Interlochen Arts Festival in Interlochen, MI.
Wood’s testimony and other great information about the show can
