Dearborn residents can take part in June 7
household hazardous waste collection event
Can also have confidential papers shredded and disposed of
Dearborn residents are invited to take part
in a free household hazardous waste collection event happening from
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, at the City of Dearborn DPW Yard,
2951 Greenfield Road.
This event is open to Dearborn residents only. Residents
taking part will be asked to bring photo identification to show proof
of residency.
Dearborn residents can also bring confidential papers for shredding
and disposal during the June 7 household hazardous waste collection
event. This service is free, and is also open to Dearborn residents
only. A limit of five boxes of paper (or approximately 50 pounds of
paper) per resident will apply.
Only household-generated products from Dearborn residents will be accepted
at the household hazardous waste collection event. Examples of acceptable
items are:
- Household paints, stains, dyes.
- Floor wax, floor care products, carpet cleaner.
- Furniture polish, bathroom cleaners, stain removers.
- Medicine, nail polish, glue.
- Fertilizer, law and garden chemicals, pesticides.
- Antifreeze, motor oil, gasoline.
- Automotive batteries, dry cell batteries.
- Fluorescent bulbs.
- Mercury thermometers, thermostats, elemental mercury.
The following items cannot be accepted: commercial
waste, industrial waste, radioactive material, explosives, ammunition,
55-gallon drums, shock sensitive materials, household trash, refrigerators,
microwaves or other appliances, tires, yard waste and concrete.
