Gun purchase permits can be obtained through the Dearborn Police Department's Records Bureau, 16099 Michigan Ave., between the hours of 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Wednesday or Friday 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Bring a valid driver’s license or your State ID, with the current address where you reside. If your background check is good (State check and our in-house computer check), you will be issued a purchase permit which is valid for 30 days.
There is a $6 notary fee for the permits.
All guns must be registered with the City of Dearborn. Registration is completed at the Records Bureau.
Applications for a permit to Carry a Concealed Weapons (CCW) can also be obtained at the Records Bureau, between the hours of 12:30-4:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; 8-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and Friday 8-11:30 a.m.
Applications can also be obtained online at www.michigan.gov/msp or www.waynecounty.com/clerk.
Once everything in the packet has been completed, you will take all the paperwork down to the Wayne County City Clerk’s office, in Detroit, or the Western-Wayne Satellite Office, in Westland. Your fingerprints will be taken at either location.
