The annual Martian Marathon is Saturday, April 15 in the City of Dearborn, beginning and ending at Ford Field Park.
This annual race typically attracts up to 5,000 runners. Given the significant number of runners and participants, the City and the Dearborn Police Department are asking residents, visitors, and drivers to be extra patient in their travels on Saturday.
There will be some temporary road closures, traffic delays, and minimal impact on some neighborhoods as a result of the event.
The “Martian Invasion of Races” is unique in that it features 4 key races: a traditional 26.2-mile marathon and a 13.1-mile half-marathon, plus a 5K and a 10K race, and a kids marathon mile. The Police will be controlling traffic on several roadways between 7 a.m. and noon.
Interested runners and participants still have time to register by visiting https://martianraces.com/.
Runners and those cheering them on are encouraged to show their race-day spirit by dressing in Martian-themed costumes for this family-friendly event, presented by Dearborn Parks & Recreation and RF Events – an Ann Arbor-based organization that helps coordinate races across the Midwest.
