Mayor Jack O’Reilly will mark the beginning of the holiday season at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 22, with Dearborn’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony outside of the west entrance of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

The free event, a longstanding Dearborn tradition, will begin with three seasonal choral presentations by the Vanguard Voices Chorus.
Mayor O’Reilly, assisted by Louai Alkhawlani, a third-grade special needs student at Nowlin Elementary School, will then light the ceremonial tree.
Following another choral selection by the Vanguard Voices Chorus, everyone is invited to take a free tour of the Festival of Trees in the Lincoln Ballroom, where younger children can visit with Santa Claus.

The Festival of Trees is a fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation. (With rising COVID caseloads in Michigan, masks are recommended when touring the Festival of Trees.)

Cookies, coffee and hot chocolate will be available in the lobby prior to and after the outdoor portion of the ceremony.

The annual tree lighting ceremony is hosted by the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department.
