Several city buildings will be closed the weekend of July 1 in observance of the Independence Day holiday on Monday, July 4.

All three locations of the Dearborn Public Library — the Henry Ford Centennial Library, and the Bryant and Esper Branches — will be closed beginning Saturday, July 2 through Monday, July 4.

The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center and the Dearborn Ice Skating Center (DISC) will be closed on Monday, July 4.

The Dearborn Administrative Center (DAC) and the 19th District Court will be closed on Monday, July 4.

Trash, recycling and yard waste pickup will be delayed by one day for each district the week of July 4-8; Monday’s trash district will be serviced Tuesday, July 5.

Please be reminded of the City’s fireworks ordinance, which mimics state law.

During and leading up to Independence Day 2022, residents are permitted to use fireworks on the following days and times: Between 11 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. on June 29, June 30, July 1, July 2, July 3 and July 4.

Anyone found discharging fireworks outside of the designated dates and times is subject to a mandatory civil fine of $1,000.

The fine for use of fireworks on another person’s property without permission — including public, school or church property—is $500.

Additionally, the penalty for use of fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance is a civil infraction with a fine of $1,000.
