TreeCityUSAThe National Arbor Day Foundation has once again honored the City of Dearborn with its Tree City USA recognition. Dearborn joins more than 3,400 other communities that earned the distinction from the national community forestry program.

This year marks the 33rd consecutive year that Dearborn has received this award.

To be named a Tree City, Dearborn met the program’s four requirements: to have a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an annual Arbor Day observance.

Dearborn works to promote the role of trees in the community in hopes of preserving a healthy environment and improving the quality of life for all.

Tree City USA communities also enjoy a number of benefits, including cleaner air, improved storm water management, energy savings, increased property values, and growth of commercial activity.

The National Arbor Day Foundation sponsors the Tree City USA program in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
