Leslie Herrick began her first term on council in January 2018. In this position, she continues years of service dedicated to making her hometown a vibrant, welcoming city that provides an excellent quality of life for residents and opportunities for businesses to thrive.

Councilwoman Herrick has held leadership roles in numerous projects that enrich the Dearborn community.  Recognizing that music and art bring people together, for example, she has worked closely with community partners to plan Dearborn’s premier event—the Dearborn Homecoming festival—that draws more than 140,000 people to the west Dearborn business district each August to enjoy music, food, entertainment, family-friendly activities and fireworks. 

Councilwoman Herrick is accredited in the field of public relations and has led award-winning communications initiatives for employers in a variety of industries including nonprofit, education, financial services and healthcare. Most recently, she’s worked for the Dearborn Public Schools, the Dearborn Community Fund and the City of Dearborn.

In addition, Councilwoman Herrick has held leadership roles with her neighborhood association and organizations including the Dearborn Symphony, the Dearborn Education Foundation, the Remember Me Quilt Project and Boy Scout Troop 1147. She also is a member of the Dearborn Historical Society, American Association of University Women (AAUW), and the League of Women Voters.

A graduate of Dearborn High School, Councilwoman Herrick earned an associate degree from the honors program at Henry Ford College and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Wayne State University.
