There’s always something new at Camp Dearborn. This year, what’s new is the facility’s general store, scheduled to open May 17, which marks the beginning of the summer camping season. Located in the Camp Office, the general store will feature a limited inventory of items commonly coveted by campers. For beach goers, the store will offer sand buckets and shovels, sunscreen, lip balm, floatable noodles and sunglasses. Grillers and outdoor cooks can pick up charcoal, click-and-aim lighters, flat wood fire starters, roasting sticks and aluminum foil. For picnickers, the store will feature fitted table and bench covers, Dixie paper plates, biodegradable cutlery packs and lime green plastic ware. Souvenir seekers can select from coffee mugs, water bottles, Frisbees, beach balls and teddy bears in a t-shirt, all emblazoned with the Camp Dearborn logo. The store will also carry poker chips and playing cards for game players, as well as dental kits for children and adults, and hand sanitizers for hygiene-conscious campers. And for the “I-thought-we-packed-everything” campers, the store will carry rain ponchos, batteries, 30- to 50-amp adaptors and mini flashlights. Camp Dearborn's general store will be open for business from May 17-September 1, 2019.
