With warmer weather soon upon us, the City of Dearborn wants to ensure residents are aware of the rules for hosting a garage sale.
A permit must be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office in order to host a garage sale, and it is valid for up to three consecutive days.
Residents may hold a maximum of four garage sales per year. The cost is $10 for the first permit; $15 for the second; $20 for the third and $25 for the fourth within the same calendar year.
Sellers also have the option of advertising the sale on the City’s website for an additional $10. It will be posted in the form of a Google map with the location of the garage sale highlighted and information about the items available. You can find garage sales with the Garage Sale Locater button on the city's website at: https://tinyurl.com/2ku34tce
Residents are reminded to be aware of their Public Service Day while hosting a garage sale, as it may cause parking issues for potential customers who may not know that it is that neighborhood’s Public Service Day.
A printable application form can be located online at: https://cityofdearborn.org/documents/city-departments/city-clerk/5441-garage-sale-application-2020/file.
This form can either be mailed to the Clerk’s Office or dropped off during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
