The primary mission of the Public Works and Services Department within the City of Dearborn is to provide trusted quality service to the community that is knowledgeable, consistent, comprehensive and a helpful resource to the public. The role of the Department of Public Works is to provide environmental and infrastructure services designed to ensure the cleanliness and safe and efficient mobility of the residents, visitors, and customers of the city; to provide for the oversight and management of solid waste collection activities performed by private contractors, including citywide curbside recycling. We facilitate the clearing of illegally dumped debris and provide construction, maintenance, and engineering design of streets and alleys; perform snow & ice removal services, perform sidewalk maintenance, as well as establish and maintain systems and devices for safe and expeditious regulation and control of traffic. Our work is dedicated to maintaining a safe, healthy and desirable community, with tree-lined streets that are clean and maintained, beautiful parks, well-maintained water supply, sewer and storm water conveyance systems, and properly maintained vehicles, facilities and equipment. We work as a team to promote respect towards all employees and Dearborn residents. The needs of the community will guide us as we continually explore ways to deliver better service.
