With school and business closures, many residents may be staying home much more frequently. Residents should be taking measures to ensure that their household plumbing systems and the City’s sewer systems do not become blocked.
Per the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, paper towel, tissue paper, and wipes – even those named “flushable” – should not be flushed down the toilet. These items may create blockages in household pipes and municipal sewer systems.
While shopping, residents are encouraged to buy only what they need to ensure that every household has enough toilet paper.
We appreciate the community’s cooperation in this matter.
