With Easter weekend approaching quickly on April 10-12 , Mayor Jack O’Reilly and the City of Dearborn understand that residents want to spend time with their loved ones as they normally would to celebrate the holiday.

To save lives, however, residents are reminded that social gatherings with anyone who does not live in the same household is now a crime under state law. This includes inviting family or friends into your private home or property for

Easter meals or Easter Egg hunts.

Throughout Michigan, breaking this law is a misdemeanor that includes a $1,000 fine. The law will be appropriately enforced.

Although this is a difficult time, the law is in place to save lives by helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
