Residents ages 55 and older may be interested in one of two city-owned and operated buildings that are currently experiencing relatively short waiting lists: Hubbard Manor East and Hubbard Manor West. These senior buildings offer affordable, independent living that is located near shopping, banking, recreation and entertainment. 

Amenities at the senior citizen communities include:
• One bedroom apartments.
• Reasonable monthly rents.
• All utilities are included (except phone and cable).
• Private balconies.
• Onsite laundry facilities.
• Spacious kitchen with stove and refrigerator.
• Carpet, window blinds, and central air conditioning.
• Secured entrance system.
• Complimentary bus transportation to area shopping.
• Onsite theater room, community room and library.
• Building activities planned by a resident committee.
• Community maintenance staff.
• Security cameras
• Tenants can choose to have their welfare confirmed once a day. (Ask for details).

“We consider our seniors in these Dearborn Housing communities to be family, and we always ensure that they feel welcome and included,” said Jeffrey Watson, Director of the City’s Economic and Community Development Department.

COVID-19 public health precautions as advised by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention are being followed at both buildings. Masks are required in all areas of the building excluding an individual’s apartment, social distancing is being maintained, and indoor gatherings may not exceed 10 people.

Hubbard Manor East is at 5500 Calhoun Street and Hubbard Manor West is at 22077 Beech Street.
