The Dearborn Department of Parks & Recreation Commission welcomed new inductees into the City’s Sports Hall of Fame & Sports Legends Hall of Fame at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center on Sunday, March 17. The City recognized six inductees alongside 24 middle and high school athletes for their athleticism and leadership.

The annual Van Patrick Memorial Award was presented to the top male and female student-athletes of the year nominated from each of the four high schools located in Dearborn. All candidates with a tie to Dearborn were evaluated and selected by the Dearborn Parks and Recreation Commission.

The newest members of the Sports Hall of Fame include:

  • Jim Boron
  • Greg Gomolak
  • JJ Schimizzi

New inductees to the Sports Legends Hall of Fame include:

  • Ted Kulfan
  • John Vigilante
  • Michael Vigilante

The High School Athletes of the Year were recognized for their extraordinary achievements in the athletic arena, as well as their accomplishments in the classroom, and their contributions to the community. The event also honored the Middle School Student Athletes of the Year with the Mickey Patrick Award for their successes in
the athletic and academic arenas.
